Organization For Hindu Religion And Culture in Harrisburg

OHRC had an hearing on 11/29/2018 at 7 pm in Lower Paxton Township Zoning and Hearing Board about the special exception granting to build a Temple in our Land in Page Road. The hearing board opened our case with lots of questionnaires on our purpose and our agendas. Lots of questions and concerns raised from the mainstream community members present in the hearing board. Our panelist Abhi Neupane answered very wisely to the concerned raised, with the lots of thinking and discussion from the Zoning and Hearing Board. Finally It was decided to GRANT the special exception to build a Hindu Temple in our purchase land.
OHRC has reached one step forward in our dream project of building Temple in Harrisburg. Thanks to all the members and well wishers for the support. We appreciate all the hard work and effort to get us to this position today. Let's put our hand together and support OHRC in anyway possible. We will soon come with temple sketch and additional future plans. Thank you once again to our temple construction team! Stay tuned!

October 7th - 13th 2019 - ​Dashain (also known as Bijaya Dashami).

October 27th - 29th 2019 - Tihar (also known as Diwali or Dipawali).

Dashain and Tihar are two of the greatest and important Hindu festivals celebrated around the globe. OHRC celebrate this auspicious occasion on the above dates. Time and Venue will be announce by OHRC facebook page and other means.

Application for membership is open to all Hindus of 18 years or older, residing in Harrisburg metro and its suburbs. The one who subscribes to and uphold OHRC’s mission and objectives shall be eligible for membership of the organization.

  • To establish a Hindu Temple to practice, enhance and propagate Hindu religious, social, and cultural activities.
  • To foster the teachings of the Vedas and other Hindu Scriptures, and promote principles and practices thereof to facilitate education and creation of Hindu Priests, Pandits and Acharyas.
  • To observe religious and cultural activities such as praying, worshipping, following traditional festivals, rituals, pious deeds, weddings, pilgrimage and mourning according to Vaidik faith.
  • To foster technical education and performing arts activities.
  • To enhance teaching and learning of Nepali language.
  • To promote volunteerism and goodwill among all people, government entities and social organizations; and enhance religious tolerance.
  • To provide financial, spiritual and social service assistance to needy families and individuals during emergencies.
